People come from all around to live in Old Northeast. Some say it is in the best part of St. Petersburg. It is close to town, waterfront parks, restaurants and museums. Enjoy them during the day and come home at night to the warm glow of this compelling little bungalow.
Antique and salvage yard treasures to flea market finds. Yes, the cottage is a little quirky. A little whimsical. But it makes for a fun memory. We’ve collected many cool pieces and created a custom look. Some call it shabby chic. Some call it repurposed. Some call it eclectic.
Our dining room table was a rescue. From the trash. Old with that ugly brown stain they used a 100 years ago. The base was ripped from the top, just to get it out the door. We found it. Our faux finisher friend transformed it. Look for it in our photo gallery. In the coral dining room. It is magnificent now.
It sits under the brass chandelier, that is not brass anymore. It has that crackle chalk paint look. Oyster shells from a dinner at the local oyster bar hang from the arms. Guess you could call that repurposing. The best part is the crystals. Classes it up.
An authentic old carousel mirror hangs on the dining room wall. It was one of the mirrors that hung on the inside core of the carousel. It reflected the horses. Now it reflects the chandelier.
Comfy queen bed in the master bedroom has a classy brass headboard. The second bedroom has two twin beds for added flexibility. The beds sit under a colorful cellular kite. It was this same kite that hung in my son’s bedroom when he was an infant.
There is a big 40” flat screen smart TV in living room. Easy to see from the couch and the two swivel chairs. The pine display case is from an old store. We packed it with novels . . . if TV is not your thing. Besides, the wicker couch on the front porch makes a great place to read . . . and fall asleep.
Everyone loves the large red Samsung washer and dryer just inside the garage. No apartment size unit here. We gave it its' own space in the garage with folding table along side. You never have to listen to it in the house.
Behind the picket fence in the front yard and in the courtyard are many flowering plants. Along with giant traveler palms, the unique tropical flowers remind you you are in Florida. A gurgling fountain in the backyard drowns out city noises. Lounge chairs and umbrella make a great place to soak up sun. We even added a small gas grill for the nights you want to stay in.
Just off the courtyard is the garage. So if parking in a garage is your thing. We have one. It also makes a terrific place to keep your golf clubs and beach gear. In addition, you can park in the convenient carport next to the garage or parallel park on the street. Lots of options. Lots of ways to abandon the car. It is an easy stroll to town. We have bikes, too!
